These days, it seems everyone is looking to break into the unicorn farming industry. Be it the economy, the limited opportunities in the classifieds, or the undeniable allure of ‘80s nostalgia, new batches of unicorn farmers are sprouting up across the globe.

I have seen it myself at Unicornomics, the unicorn farm and research and development firm where I am Chief Unicornomicist, as our workshops on How to Raise Unicorns have experienced record attendance in inverse correlation with the Dow.

And, while unicorns are appreciative of this zeitgeist, they are also wary of the pitfalls that a surplus of unicorn farmers can bring. Thus, in the interest of unicorns’ wellbeing and preserving the future of this profession, I present to you the 5 Things You Need to Know Before Entering the Best Occupation Ever.
5. Unicorns aren’t simply grouped into “magical” and “non-magical”. Just as there is more than one breed of dog and more than one member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there is more than one type of unicorn. There is the picturesque Purebred, the glitterific Twinkletoe, the fiery Karmic, and the awkwardly lovable Gigglerump. Mixing them up will create a ton of grief that – trust me – you do not have time for, especially as you are growing your unicorn farming business.

4. Unicorns don’t like to discuss their bodily functions. This may disappoint those who spend their time theorizing about the consistency of unicorn excrement or the color of unicorn vomit, but most unicorns possess a sense of decorum. If you truly are intrigued by the digestive systems of unicorns, consider pursuing your studies in gastrointestinal unicornology, not unicorn farming.

3. Sparkling is only one aspect of a unicorn’s abilities. Unicorns can do more than just look pretty. Sure, that is what they’ve been relegated to through tapestries and little girls’ stationery, but they can also perform great feats of telekinesis and reduce the number of emails in your inbox with just a swish of the tail.

All Signs

This week Saturn leaves Capricorn (the suits) where it’s been since 2017, to enter rebellious Aquarius. (“To the gates!”) Saturn will be in Aquarius for only three months, then return to Capricorn to stay until the end of the year. (When it leaves, it will not return for 29 years.) This means the next three months are a hint of what is to come in 2021. Meanwhile, this week, on the Spring Equinox, the Sun enters Aries. As Little Richard would say, “There’s a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on!” (Remember: Friends don’t let friends drive naked.)

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Once a year, for four weeks, the Sun is in your sign boosting your energy and bringing you good fortune. Ta da! That time has arrived! This means it’s your turn to recharge your batteries for the rest of the year. This month you will be powerful because in addition to the Sun in your sign, fiery Mars and Jupiter are both at the top of your chart. This makes you ambitious! It also means doors will open for you, allowing you to promote your reputation among your peers. This is a rare and opportune time so make the most of it! This week you’re getting mixed signals. Because your birthday is a month away, your personal year is coming to an end. However, contrary to this influence, fiery Mars and Jupiter want you to get outta Dodge! They want you to explore your world by expanding your knowledge through books, film and study. Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Your popularity will soar in the next four weeks because suddenly, everyone wants you on their team. (You love this.) In fact, some of you will become more involved in organizations and perhaps take on a leadership role. Discussions with authority figures – bosses, supervisors, teachers and parents, will be important this week because Mercury is high in your chart. This is an excellent time to think about your life direction in general. Meanwhile, disputes about shared property, insurance issues and inheritances might be an issue. Fortunately, because Jupiter is also in this part of your chart, you’ll come out smelling like a rose. You win!

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

For the next four weeks, the Sun will be sitting at the top of your chart. (This is the only time all year this can occur.) When it happens, it symbolizes that you are thrust into a flattering spotlight, which makes you look good in the eyes of bosses, parents and VIPs. (Even if you don’t do anything different or special.) It’s smoke and mirrors! Obviously, this is a blessing from the universe that you can use to advance your own agenda. Make your pitch! Go after what you want. However, keep in mind that even though you make such a great impression on bosses and VIPs, with Mars opposite your sign now, relations with partners and close friends are testy and challenging. Sigh. Nothing is perfect.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

This is a strong time for Leos! In the next four weeks, you will focus more on publishing, the media, the law and medicine. You want to travel and do anything to expand your world. You will explore learning new things, hearing lectures, going to classes, attending musical performances or doing anything unusual that is informative and educational. Meanwhile, relations with authority figures are fabulous! Don’t hesitate to ask for a favour. (In fact, things are so cozy, some of you will begin a romance with a boss.) Someone will ask for your advice about design, layout, furniture arrangement, regardless of what you do for a living. You will have something to say because you are a creative sign, who is quick to see the whole picture.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

No matter what you are doing, you will be more passionate in the next four weeks. You will be passionate about everything! (Not just sex, but that, too.) Your desire to travel and explore opportunities in the media, publishing and medicine are strong. With your ruler Mercury sitting right opposite your sign, you will be eager to talk to partners and close friends, and they will enjoy talking to you! The next four weeks are the perfect time to address this situation. This is a happy time for you because you appreciate your surroundings and you also see how much love there is in your world. This vegan meatloaf is a savory, healthy and gluten-free dish. Made with easy to find ingredients, it’s a delicious plant-based version of a classic recipe.

Here’s another plant-based recipe, perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, special occasions or just to make on a daily basis. I’ve never been a meatloaf-lover myself, but I do love this vegan meatloaf.

The classic recipe is made with ground meat, bread, and some spices. I’ve used legumes instead of meat and nutritional yeast instead of bread to make a gluten-free recipe.

This meatloaf is adapted from our veggie burgers, which are the best plant-based burgers we’ve ever tried. You can find the recipe in our Simple Vegan Meals ebook. I don’t know which recipe I like the most (the burgers or the meatloaf) because both are AMAZING.

I preferred to use a lined 9×5 inch (23×13 cm) loaf pan to make this meatloaf, but any other rectangular pan will do. If you don’t have any, you can also use your hands and a lined baking sheet, it’s up to you!

This vegan meatloaf is simple, easy to make and so tasty! You can eat it with my vegan mashed potatoes and this delicious vegan gravy to enjoy a delicious plant-based meal

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF or 180ºC.
  • Add the chickpeas and beans to a mixing bowl and mash them (photo 1).
  • Add all the remaining ingredients of the meatloaf and mix until well combined (photo 2).
  • Press the mixture firmly in a lined 9×5 inch (23×13 cm) loaf pan (photo 3).
  • To make the glazemix all the ingredients in a mixing bowl (photo 4).
  • Spread the glaze evenly over top and bake for 50 minutes (photo 5).
  • Remove from the oven and allow the vegan meatloaf to cool for at least 5 minutes before removing it from the loaf pan (photo 6).

9 Simple Ways to Make Your Meditation Practice Fun and Exciting by Kev Wood

By now you know that having a regular meditation practice is good for you. You know how beneficial it can be to your body, mind, and spirit, yet it’s easy to go days, or weeks, or months without meditating.

Often, we associate negative feelings with meditation. It becomes something we “have” to do, instead of something that inspires us and we feel drawn to. Sometimes, meditation can feel a lot like work. Plus, we’re dealing with our minds, which seem to have an infinite supply of excuses to stop us from adding positive habits to our lives.

If you’ve been struggling to meditate, or it feels too much like work. Then, this post is for you.

Below we offer nine different ways you can reinvigorate your meditation practice and make it fun again. After all, the moment something becomes fun a lot of resistance to the activity drops.

1. Go as Small as Possible

If you jumped into meditation with a lot of vigor, then you could be overcommitting yourself. If you expect yourself to meditation 30 minutes or an hour a day, and you’re just beginning, then you’re going to be in for a rough time. You could simply be overwhelmed with the amount of time you’re making yourself spend…with yourself.

One way around this is to simply shorten the time you’re meditation. You can expand with time.

But, start small. Set a timer for five minutes and that’s it.

These small meditations can help to build the meditation muscle. And you might even begin to enjoy these little mental refreshers you give yourself throughout the day.

2. Take a ‘Napitation’

Who doesn’t love a good nap?

Now, napping can be great for our minds and even our overall health. But, you can actually supercharge your naps, by throwing in a little meditation.

By setting aside a little meditation time before your nap, you’ll give yourself some extra motivation. As soon as you’re done meditating, you’ll get to take a nap!

If you’re planning on taking a 20 minute nap, then meditate for five minutes before that. You’ll probably even notice that meditating before you take a nap will lead to your naps being even more recharging than usual.

3. Prioritize Comfort

If you’re uncomfortable when you’re meditating, then it’s going to be difficult to stick with.

Prioritize comfort, especially in the beginning stages. If you can’t sit comfortably, then try sitting on a meditation cushion, or a stack of pillows.

If your body is still incredibly uncomfortable, then try lying down, or standing up.

Choose a position that allows your body to sink into comfort, and you’ll remove some resistance to letting your meditation practice shine.

4. Make It a Treat

Meditation should be a fun practice.

If you dread your meditation practice, or find it incredibly boring, then it’s time to reconfigure your motivation.

Find that one thing that you truly love about meditation. Maybe it’s how you feel the moment you open your eyes after meditating. Maybe it’s after ten minutes into your meditation when you feel yourself truly relax.

Find that one thing that you love about the practice and do your best to bring that intention to light.

Focus on that and you’ll find it’s much easier to get yourself to commit to meditating.

5. Get Help

If you’re finding meditation impossible, then you could seek out help in the form of audios and guided meditations. Both of these can help outsource the difficult parts of meditation and still give you the benefits of practicing.

Find a guided meditation that you truly love doing and you’ll find yourself committing to the practice much more often.

6. Make It Mobile

You can walk and meditate.

If you’ve found it impossible to sit still while you meditate, then maybe walking meditation is more up your alley. A walking mindfulness meditation can be a very effective and enjoyable practice.

To do this practice find a place where you won’t be disturbed and you can focus all of your intention on your walking and breathing. Notice all of the sensations present in your body, and the immediate world that surrounds you.

7. Take 100 Breaths

It can help you meditate if you give your mind something to hook onto.
