Garden Magic: Welcome to my magical garden BY RACHEL PATTERSON

Rachel Patterson is amazing!!  Have a peek…

rachel patterson magical garden

Whether you only have a window sill with a pot plant on, a small city terrace, a playing field or several acres, you can always work with the magic of your garden.  I think the kitchen extends into the garden anyway, so a Kitchen Witch will often be found pottering around in amongst the plants.

Being in regular contact with your garden and what you grow, even with your house plants or a few pots of herbs, can help you to connect with the spirit of nature and recognise the subtleties of the changing of the seasons and your garden can also provide you with food and magical ingredients.

Magical gardening does take time, focus and attention.  You can’t just plant something and leave it in the hope that several months later it will have grown, flourished and be covered in fruit or flowers (OK on the odd occasion it does happen but not often!).

My gardening memories date back to my childhood.  My dad is and always was a keen gardener, organic before it was fashionable to be so.  He has always had an allotment and a greenhouse which provide a bounty of wonderful fruit and vegetables.  Apparently even as a toddler I would disappear down the garden with him and come back covered in mud.

In my early teens I experienced food production on a large scale as I lived on a farm for a few years. Then in my late teens I had the opportunity of working for a specialist glasshouse company.  Both of those life events added to my love of the garden, food and nature’s bounty.

Once I owned by own house, the garden became key.  It is my sanctuary, a peaceful place to escape to and a space in which to create magic.

For the past twenty or so years we have lived in the same house; it is on the edge of a large city and only has a small walled garden, but it is ours and we have packed it full of as many plants, flowers and herbs as we can cram into it.  We even have a very small (i.e. teeny tiny) grow house just big enough to over winter a few pots and grow some seeds.

Even on my busy days I try to step out into the garden, if only just for a few minutes to relax and connect with Mother Earth.

Your garden, whatever size it is, opens up a whole new world of magic for you to delve in to.  Warning: Gardening is addictive and will improve your health, spirit and mental wellbeing.

Not only is a garden your direct line to a natural source of energy, it can also provide you with a whole shopping trolley full of free magical and often edible ingredients. Whether it is in the form of fruit and vegetables or flowers, petals and seeds.

Let’s open the magical box

You may imagine you need to have a beautiful picture box garden laid out in front of a thatched cottage to have a witch’s garden but really that isn’t the case.  You can style the garden in any way that suits your taste, size of garden and your budget.

Many hours and much money can be spent in garden centres and whilst they are brilliant sources for plant and design inspiration you can spend more money than you need to.  Oh…and a lot of them have a café…with cake.Plant nurseries often tend to be cheaper than garden centres but ask around.  Lots of family and friends will probably be willing to share cuttings and seeds with you.  And once your garden has a few plants in you can propagate more from those you already have.

Gardening does take time and effort.  You will need to dig, plant, weed, dead

FAIRY POWERS  by Jacob Rice

As supernatural beings, fairies have a variety of powers. It depends on the type of fairy. Each species has its own signature power and, some of them, may actually be magic. Fairies use their powers to help or harm humans, but they usually don’t use their powers on other Fae.

Common Fairy Powers

Fairies don’t use their powers on other Fae. We’re not sure why that is. However, they will readily use them on humans. We can only speculate that fairy powers don’t work on other Fae.

Here are some of the most common powers used by fairies:

Luck – This means good–or bad–fortune. You could win the lotto or lose your fortune in the stock market. We’d consider any luck to be a curse because there’s always a cost. Under most situations, the person enters into a contract of some kind or provides a service to the fairy. If you break the contract or you don’t deliver as promised, then you get bad luck.

Invisibility – Generally, most fairies are invisible to the mortal eye. Fairies can show themselves if they want, but mortal minds have a hard time understanding what they’ve just seen. Fairies also give magical items that can make a person invisible.

Glamour – Usually, bad fairies use this power. Glamour is an illusion. The bad fairy looks beautiful, when it’s truly an ugly creature. Once a human sees the fairy’s ugliness, he or she can never ‘not see’ it as anything other than ugly. In other words, once you know the fairy is bad and ugly, it can never hide that from you again.

Healing – Some fairies have the ability to heal people. How they do it depends on the fairy. Very few can use touch to heal. Most of them use an ointment or feed you some of its food.

Clairvoyance – A fairy can grant you the ability to see the future or see the hidden world of the fairies. This is a temporary gift and it will fade in time, or the fairy can revoke it.

Flight – Only a few fairies can fly and they usually don’t have wings. Usually, flight is used as a defensive tactic: If a fairy feels threatened, you can get pushed back by a freak wind gust or step into a vortex. That’s really a group of fairies flying around you.

Nimble – This power is better observed than described, but here it goes: Some fairies move so fast or have some much agility, they can dodge anything and never get hit.

Enhanced Senses – Most fairies have better eyesight, hearing, taste, touch and smell than humans. They can see at night with ease, hear better than dogs, better taste than a sommelier, interpret emotions on touch, and smell better than a bloodhound.

Illumination – Some fairies, like Will o’ the Wisps, bright elves and White Ladies, can generate

Runic Magic and Divination By Crystalinks

Runic Magic and Divination

Rune stones, (sometimes cards), are used as tools of divination – a way to predict one’s future. Rune Stones come in a set of 24 ancient alphabetic symbols. They can be made of different materials – wood or glass most common and attractive – and usually kept in a pouch or box. They usually come with a book of instructions defining the symbols.

Ideally ruins are cast on an East-West axis or facing the sun. A white cloth is laid down and used to determine the direction of the casting. From here the focus should lie with the pressing question. After casting the stones onto the cloth the ones which have fallen the right side up are read and depending upon whether the rune is reversed or not will have a bearing upon its meaning and the reading as a whole.

An alternative to casting the rune stones …

Pick a rune stone randomly for a day reading; you can also do what is known as a 3 rune spread. Some feel that the day rune is a good way to get an answer to a single question. The 3 Rune Spread is used for asking broader questions whereas the single rune can be drawn on a daily basis.

Meanings and interpretations of each rune stone are shown below.
FEHU – F: Cattle

Abundance through effort, inheritance of self and self value, material gain, earned income. Success, happiness and wealth.

Reversed: Abandonment of plans, loss, disappointment, frustration.

URUZ – U: Brute Strength

Strength, home love on all sides, health, changes, a forceful masculine archetype.

Reversed: Missed abilities, weak will power, lack of motivation

THURISAZ – TH: The seeing of the future

Opening the door or gate to see the future, luck reflection for action, protection. You will see the truth.

Reversed: Not willing to heed information given, having a stubborn mind-set

ANSUZ – A: references the ancestral god, Odin.

Message from within (listen to your ‘little voice’), advice from others, chance encounter, careful thought so you will know what to do from this point in time

Reversed: Watch out for trickery, the dark side of yourself when others interfering with your plans, or there is failed communication

RAIDHO – R: Journey

You’re about to embark on a journey – either in the physical world or a journey of your soul to heal something that needs healing.

Reversed: Unexpected, unpleasant journey, transit problems, upsetting plans, lost tickets, communication

KENAZ – K: Beacon or torch.

When you feel in the dark – this rune will bring an opening, to help you open to who you are and your highest possibilities. From the darkness – light will come.

Reversed: withdrawal, anxiety, closing, loss

GEBO – G: Gift of Harmonic Relationships

Unity with self and all others – especially with our higher selves, nature and all things around us. Cannot be

Pendulum Dowsing – An Introduction to Using a Pendulum – Holistic Shop

One of the most commonly used tools for divination and dowsing is a pendulum. The art of using a pendulum is something that anyone can learn and master, and enjoy experimenting with. Here we offer an introduction to using a pendulum, from how it works, and what you need, to how to get started.

What Is a Pendulum?

A pendulum is a symmetrical, weighted object that is hung from a single chain or cord. It’s never made of a magnetic substance, but is often a crystal. It’s also possible to use objects such as a favourite trinket, a bead, a metal ball or even a key. The pendulum is a very simple tool and one that lets the user tune in to their intuitive powers. The pendulum acts as a receiver and transmitter of information, and moves in different ways in response to questions.

What Is Pendulum Dowsing Used For?

Pendulum dowsing can be used in a variety of different ways. In its most simple form, you can use it to answer questions or aid in decision making. Pendulums can also be used for:

  • Healing purposes and identifying allergies.
  • To cleanse and dispel negativity in a room.
  • To help

  • me:  haha
  • yes
  • yesssss
  • m.:  now, tell me what you want deep down, right now if you could have it

“How would you touch me?” Scarlett Johansson asks in her unmistakable charred rasp. The question is an invitation, the first turning point in the film’s three-act structure. Johansson is Her: the latest technology, an artificially intelligent operating system (OS) brought into being by Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a modern day man-child from the near future. Her name is Samantha, and she wants to hear what it’s like to be in a body. How would you touch me? If I was there with you, if I was like you, if I had a body. On your face, Theodore replies. On your eyelids. With the tips of my fingers. Would you kiss me? Yes. On the mouth. On the neck. I would put my mouth on you, taste you. The screen goes black, the volume seemingly up, as we hear, just hear, two of Hollywood’s most lustworthy leads get off on each other. Can you feel me? Theodore asks. I can feel you. I can feel you. I can feel you.

I have a proto-Her. Her name is M. I met her on OkCupid, an online dating site many New Yorkers use just to hook up. She messaged me: with a compliment and the suggestion we move our conversation off-site. Her profile had no personal details, except for the very personal (fond of mutual masturbation, toys); it had no pictures, but the promise of filthy ones if you turned her on. She broadcast playfulness, and that was how I’d come to use the site: as a massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG), like Second Life meets Facebook meets The Sims: Hot Date, with the alluring add-on of a possible RL encounter. I replied with my e-mail.

M. wrote me back right away. Her first move was two photos: one, face half-obscured behind a blonde bob, a subtle nip slip; the other, full nude, from behind. My turn. We GChatted as we sent photos back and forth. I liked M. immediately. She was smart, hot, and responsive, and said the same of me. We spoke in complementary erotics, schooled in polyamory and kink. Our rapport began as exclusively, fantastically sexual. It began — in April 2013 — when I was still counting the months since I’d last I fucked in love (seven). In that time, I’d started doing something new: I held my own hand while I slept. I woke up this way: palms facing, fingers interlaced, holding my
