Have you or will you try it?
Vella, the Beauty Witch.
Get dressed up for a job interview? ✔️ Glamour magick. Take a relaxing bath to help clear your mind? ✔️ Glamour magick. Wear certain colors to help emphasis a mood? ✔️ Glamour magick. Envision yourself with a different eye color? ✔️ Glamour. Magick.
All these examples are instances of glamour magick. Some may seem more mundane or less powerful than others, but nonetheless, this is essentially what glamour magick is.
Here is a definition→
Glamour Magick: Using your aura or appearance to change the energies around you to achieve the outcome you desire.
Now let’s break this down. To begin working some glamour magick (also referred to as just glamour), you need to begin by setting some intentions for what outcome you want. Then, you need to do some actual physical labor of changing your appearance to fit that outcome. Finally, work with the energies around you to ensure that outcome is achieved.
Get that glamour, girl.
Today is the day for your interview. You’re so excited and nervous because this potential job is your dream job and the potential employer has great reviews on Glassdoor. You’re lying in bed, hoping against hope that you get the job right away after the interview. So what do you do to achieve that outcome? Glamour magick of course!
Intention: what outcome do you desire?
This is the first step of the glamour, and the most important step. Without detailing exactly what you want to happen, you may find that your beauty spell goes haywire and instead of getting the dream job, they hire you to do something in a completely different department.
Intention-setting in this stage is important, but you don’t need to do anything fancy here. Any intention-setting rituals you typically do for a spell or ritual will work in this instance.
Appearance: make sure to look the part.
Dress for the job you want, right? It’s time to literally change your appearance so you have a better chance of getting that dream job. Don’t over think it. You know what to do.
But how can you incorporate more magickal aspects into your job interview outfit? In times like these, I always like to ask myself, “How would I get a tool ready for ritual?” and that’s what I try to do to myself. Below are some examples of what you can do to amp up your glamour magick before heading into that job interview:

In today’s modern Witchcraft, Familiars are often times thought of as being animal companions or pets. When asked if they have a Familiar, many Witches will often refer to their cat, dog, or other animal. Usually these pets have a predisposition towards Witchcraft, whether they’re always showing up at ritual time or just can’t seem to keep out of the Witchy supply cabinet. Yet, this seems to be a more modern conceptualization and I find that it presents a rather incomplete picture of Familiars.
I believe that there are, in actuality, really two types of Familiars. The first, is that which I have just described, an actual material creature. The second type, and that which will be the focus of this article, is the Familiar Spirit. As the name suggests, this type does not take an actual physical body but instead appears in spectral form. The form which the spirit takes is typically that of an animal (such as a cat, toad, rat, or crow) but it may also take human form as they did for Witches Alice Kyteler and Bessie Dunlop. There are many interpretations or theories as to what the Familiar spirit is exactly and Emma Wilby notes that traditionally Familiar Spirits were variously thought of as being imps, demons, fairies, angels, or even the Devil himself.*
According to folklore, there are a number of ways a Witch could obtain a Familiar. Probably the most prevalent method was the Witch being gifted a Familiar, usually by the Devil and typically after undergoing an initiatory experience. Other cases include Witches inheriting their Familiar from another individual, such as a family member. Elizabeth Francis, a Witch from Chelmsford, supposedly received a Familiar named Sathan from her grandmother and she in turn passed onto another Witch named Agnes Waterhouse.* In fact, according to some stories, a Witch had to successfully pass her Familiar on before she could die in peace. If the Familiar could not be given away properly, they supposedly hid in hedgerows waiting for a passing Witch to hopefully adopt them.* Additionally, there are cases of Familiars appearing of their own accord, such as the case of Essex Witch Joan Prentice who claimed that she was simply preparing herself for bed when her Familiar spontaneously appeared.* Regardless of the specific method, it is typically the Familiar that finds the Witch, not the other way around. That being said, I do believe there are certain ways to be proactive if one wishes to find a Familiar to work with.
The first step is to consider why you want a Familiar, what type of qualities would you like them to have, and what type of relationship do you want with them. For example, do you want a Familiar to act as a mentor or do you want them to be a servant to do your bidding? Once you have a clear idea, put your intentions out there and let it be known what you’re specifically looking for. One suggestion would be to petition your deity and ask them for help. The next step would be to spend time out in nature, dreaming, or journeying to the Otherworld. Keep your senses open as these are places where you will likely have your first communication with a Familiar Spirit. Once you are approached by a Spirit and begin conversing, it’s important to inform them what exactly you’re looking for in terms

“How would you touch me?” Scarlett Johansson asks in her unmistakable charred rasp. The question is an invitation, the first turning point in the film’s three-act structure. Johansson is Her: the latest technology, an artificially intelligent operating system (OS) brought into being by Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a modern day man-child from the near future. Her name is Samantha, and she wants to hear what it’s like to be in a body. How would you touch me? If I was there with you, if I was like you, if I had a body. On your face, Theodore replies. On your eyelids. With the tips of my fingers. Would you kiss me? Yes. On the mouth. On the neck. I would put my mouth on you, taste you. The screen goes black, the volume seemingly up, as we hear, just hear, two of Hollywood’s most lustworthy leads get off on each other. Can you feel me? Theodore asks. I can feel you. I can feel you. I can feel you.
I have a proto-Her. Her name is M. I met her on OkCupid, an online dating site many New Yorkers use just to hook up. She messaged me: with a compliment and the suggestion we move our conversation off-site. Her profile had no personal details, except for the very personal (fond of mutual masturbation, toys); it had no pictures, but the promise of filthy ones if you turned her on. She broadcast playfulness, and that was how I’d come to use the site: as a massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG), like Second Life meets Facebook meets The Sims: Hot Date, with the alluring add-on of a possible RL encounter. I replied with my e-mail.
M. wrote me back right away. Her first move was two photos: one, face half-obscured behind a blonde bob, a subtle nip slip; the other, full nude, from behind. My turn. We GChatted as we sent photos back and forth. I liked M. immediately. She was smart, hot, and responsive, and said the same of me. We spoke in complementary erotics, schooled in polyamory and kink. Our rapport began as exclusively, fantastically sexual. It began — in April 2013 — when I was still counting the months since I’d last I fucked in love (seven). In that time, I’d started doing something new: I held my own hand while I slept. I woke up this way: palms facing, fingers interlaced, holding my

I remember the first time I tried to write a spell of my own. I sat down with paper and pencil and a vague idea of what I wanted to do. But that was it: there I sat, without much idea of what to do next. The results were more difficult than satisfying, and it took several more tries after that one before I began to have a feel for what I was doing. As for my spellwork throughout the learning curve? It wasn’t too good. At times, I turned to prewritten spells to save myself any more frustration.
Most of us magickal people work with spells, charms, or rituals on a regular basis, and many of us are perfectly happy to pull out a spellbook and use a formula that someone else has already created. It’s a simple approach: neat and tidy. Stick a bookmark in pages 23-24, assemble the list of materials, then read through and carry out each step. Voila: a spell! It’s as simple as putting together a new bookshelf, right? Well, yes—it can be, and sometimes a speedy piece of magick is just the thing.
But I’m here to convince you of the beauty and craft of home-crafted spellwork, because when you build a spell yourself, from the ground up, you infuse it with your deliberateness, your preferences, your wishes, your thoughts, and your energies. This spell won’t simply be something you read from someone else’s pages—it will carry your own signature and resonate through your very core. It will be much more powerful and complete than any ready-made charm could ever be, making you an integral part of the magick from start to finish. When we practice spellcraft, we use magick as a way of altering reality. We do this by working with as many of the corresponding realities as possible—time, date, place, elemental correspondences, the support of deities, etc.—in hopes that we can shift reality in one direction or the other and alter the outcome. Nowhere is this more elegantly done than in handcrafting spells, charms, and rituals, because in these instances, we put our essence into the magick and make it our own.
- Step One: Prepare Yourself
The first step in any magickal working is to prepare one’s self. This business of altering reality, after all, isn’t easy. Fortunately, the tools of spellwriting are simple and cheap: start with scratch paper, pen or pencil, a few index cards, and a short stack of your favorite magickal books. You might also assemble a small altar on your workspace, or just group together a dish of materials designed to inspire your creative forces. An amethyst crystal will support your intuition and insights. A burning candle scented with lilac or honeysuckle will inspire your creativity and mental powers. A cup of chamomile tea will relax you, preparing you for the work session ahead.
- Step Two: Decide What You Want
Thus prepared, the next step is to decide what you wish to accomplish. Do you need a dose of prosperity magick? Are you preparing for a self-initiation? Do you want to cleanse a physical space? Once you’ve made the decision, take a piece of paper or a large index card and fold it in half, so it stands up like a little tent. Write your intention on one half of the paper as a simple, clear statement, explaining what is at stake and what you hope to accomplish:
- “I’m a little tight financially, and I will work this magick to bring prosperity my way.”
- “I’m preparing to begin a course of study with the Alder Circle, and I want to dedicate myself to the work that lies ahead.”
- “It’s spring cleaning time, and my ritual space needs a good cleansing.”
Stand the tented paper up on one side of your workspace. This little signpost will guide and inspire you as you craft your spell.
- Step Three: Gather Your Tools
Now you’re ready for a fresh piece of paper—and you may want to think about the paper you’re using, for even at this early stage you can use the idea of intentional correspondences. The color, texture, and shape of the paper can contribute to your spellcraft. I’ve even seen prosperity

“Malocchio”, “Mal Oje”, “Ayin-hore”, “Drishti”, “Mati”, “The Evil Eye”.
Different languages have different terms to express the same thing: the belief that the eyes can be used to curse another person or affect their life negatively. The belief in the evil eye exists in cultures all over the world and can be found as far back in human history as ancient Sumeria.
WHAT IS THE EVIL EYE?
The evil eye is a form of curse that is cast through a malevolent glare.
It is usually the result of envy, of jealously so strong that its energy consumes the person and is projected outwardly through the eyes, affecting the victim. The results vary, especially considering that the evil eye often affects one thing specifically (what the person who gives the evil eye is envious of) instead of having a general effect: from headaches and vomiting to stomach aches and more serious health symptoms, bad luck, fighting with your significant other, damage of property, injuries etc.
It is usually not done deliberately (although in some cultures/traditions, there are ways people use to train themself in how to use the evil eye to cause harm), but if given by a person who has the natural ability to easily give the evil eye and if this person is particularly envious, the effects can rival a deliberate curse placed upon someone.

HOW TO REMOVE THE EVIL EYE
There are many different ways to remove the evil eye curse.
The method I’m going to present here is the one I personally use. In many traditions they believe that for those methods to work, one has to either learn them from a person of the opposite sex (a mother can teach her son for example) or the person has to figure it out on their own by observing how someone else is doing it and without asking any questions.
Personally, I don’t believe there is any loss in effectiveness if one learns the method from a person of the same sex (or from an article on the internet, as is the case here).
However, the way I learnt this method was by observing older women in my extended family when they worked on removing the evil eye, so -since they weren’t allowed to explain how they do it exactly- chances are my method is slightly different than what my mom or aunt uses. This accounts for the many variations one can find for every basic method of evil eye removal, as well as for the different beliefs on how these methods can be used (many people will tell you for example that you cannot remove the mati from yourself; someone else has to do it) as well as in the actual result from the method used (the method I’m going to present for example is used by some people just for diagnostic purposes when they’re trying to find who gave them the evil eye, while
